Taylor Swift received a warm welcome in New Orleans, ahead of her three-night concert series starting Friday.
The Karma hitmaker, 34, and her fans — Swifties — are known for their affinity for friendship bracelets, and the city welcomed them with a gesture they were sure to appreciate.
The Caesars Superdome, where she will perform this weekend, has been adorned with a giant friendship bracelet. The bracelet says, ‘Taylor Swift, The Eras Tour.’
Photos of the decoration were first shared on Thursday by the official Instagram account for the New Orleans Saints, who captioned the post, ‘A welcome for Taylor’ with a heart shaped hands emoji.
Since Taylor sang about making friendship bracelets in her 2022 hit, ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid,’ her fans have been exchanging them at her concerts.
Her fans were thrilled about the decoration, taking to social media to share their reactions.
‘Now that’s how you welcome a legend!’ one wrote on Twitter.
‘Even the Superdome’s getting in on the Swiftie action – that’s some next-level concert fever!’
‘What she deserves,’ another added.
‘OMG this is the most accurate Eras tour representation ever.’
‘Love how New Orleans is embracing the Swiftie spirit! The giant friendship bracelet on the Caesars Superdome is the perfect tribute to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and the bond her music creates among fans. It’s such a cool way to celebrate the excitement!’ one wrote.
‘Nowhere friendship bracelet have become such an integral part of swifties and Taylor Swift culture and how the same friendship bracelet changed her life, cuz it is why she got to meet the love of her life,’ another wrote in reference to her meeting boyfriend Travis Kelce.
‘So awesome!’ yet another person added.
Swifties have been trading – often hundreds of – the bright and colorful beaded bracelets at her concerts.
Several stars have also joined in on the bracelets fun, including Swift’s boyfriend Travis, who was seen rocking friendship bracelets at the Cannes Lions Festival in France in June.
The Kansas City Chiefs player previously admitted he once put his number on his bracelet to catch her eye before they began dating.
Most recently Dave Portnoy made it to Swift’s concert in Miami on Saturday night, and shared a photo of himself wearing a huge collection of friendship bracelets at Hard Rock Stadium.
Portnoy was the latest famous face to attend Swift’s Eras Tour in Miami this weekend after the likes of Tom Brady, Serena Williams and Jason Kelce enjoyed Friday’s show.
Kelce, the brother of Swift’s boyfriend Travis, left fans in stitches after a photo of him ‘sleeping’ in the stands at Hard Rock Stadium went viral.
Jason headed to Hard Rock Stadium with wife Kylie and their daughters Wyatt, 5, and Elliotte, 3, to support the songstress at the first of her three Miami shows this weekend. Mom Donna also joined them at the concert.
Yet as Taylor belted out some of her greatest hits in front of thousands of adoring fans, Travis’ big bro appeared to be getting some shut-eye in the stands.
Swift finally resumed her worldwide Eras Tour on Friday night after a two-month break, with 16 more shows to come over the next seven weeks.
Swift recently told fans she handpicked cities with the most ‘enthusiastic’ fans to close out the final shows of her Eras Tour.
While preforming in Magic City on Saturday evening, the Mirrorball singer thanked the crowd of screaming fans and revealed she intentionally selected her concert locations.
She singer said: ‘We decided, if we’re going to end this tour, eventually it has to happen, we gotta pick the crowds and the cities and the places where the crowds are going to be passionate, enthusiastic, screaming the words to every single song, like the most fun crowds imaginable,
‘So, there was only one conclusion for how to kick off this last leg, and that is Miami, Florida!’
Following her New Orleans stop, she will head to Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver to wrap up her 2024 schedule.
