Couple have to decide who will be going to Eras Tour
In an unexpected twist, a divorcing couple found themselves negotiating over who would claim two Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets as part of their settlement.
The tickets, purchased before their separation, became a focal point due to Swift’s immense popularity and the skyrocketing value of resale tickets.
With Swift’s Canadian tour stop at Toronto’s Rogers Centre taking place Thursday night, tickets were listed on resale platforms like StubHub for up to $13,000 each.
The stakes made the decision more than just about who would attend the concert-it also had significant financial implications.
Jane Cvijan, a senior legal counsel with M & Co. Law, shared details of the negotiation with CTV News.
“A couple who had purchased the tickets while they were still together [needed to decide] how they’re going to handle them now that the concert happens to be taking place after their separation,” she explained.
Options to decide who gets tickets?
Cvijan outlined three possible solutions for the estranged couple:
- They could attend the concert together as originally planned.
- One party could buy the tickets from the other at their current market value.
- They could sell both tickets and divide the proceeds equally.
Though Cvijan couldn’t reveal which option the couple ultimately chose, she confirmed that both parties were satisfied with the resolution.
Reflecting on the process, she remarked, “It can be as complicated as you wanna make it, it can be as difficult as you wanna make it, or it can be as easy as you wanna make it.”

Taylor Swift Shines in Toronto
While the couple sorted out their ticket dispute, Swift dazzled a packed Rogers Centre. Wearing a dazzling array of outfits, including a silver, blue, and gold leotard paired with glittering knee-high boots, the pop icon performed hits that kept 50,000 fans on their feet.
During the show, Swift also acknowledged her six Grammy nominations for her album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), an “emotional” project she wrote during the Eras Tour.
