Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk nominated by Time magazine for Person of the Year.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk are among the prominent names on Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” shortlist.

According to Fox News, on December 9, Time unveiled its list of 10 finalists for the “Person of the Year 2024” title. This annual recognition, established in 1927, honors individuals who have significantly impacted society, including world leaders, activists, and prominent public figures.

Leading the shortlist is U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, described as having made “a remarkable comeback.” His victory in the 2024 election brought numerous milestones, including becoming the oldest President-elect in U.S. history and the first individual with a criminal conviction to win the presidency.

Trump previously received the “Person of the Year” title in 2016 after defeating Hillary Clinton to become the 45th President of the United States.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk, a staunch supporter of Trump in this year’s election, is also among the nominees. Musk is set to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during Trump’s second term. Musk was previously named Time’s “Person of the Year” in 2021.

Other contenders on Time’s list include U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Duchess Kate Middleton, Russian economist Yulia Navalnaya, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and podcast host Joe Rogan.

In 2023, Time honored pop star Taylor Swift as “Person of the Year” for her phenomenal success in music and her role as a symbol of America’s “soft power.”
