Caitlin Clark is a big fan of Stephanie White, the top candidate to replace Christie Sides as head coach of the Indiana Fever. The reigning Rookie of the Year considers her to be a “great basketball mind.”

Although nothing is final, a unique WNBA reunion seems inevitable at this point.

White, 47, spent the last two seasons with the Connecticut Sun. Both sides conveniently “parted ways” on Monday, which is a pretty obvious indication of what is to come. She has been in talks with the Fever and the Sky over the last few weeks about their openings and the opportunity to coach Aliyah Boston and Clark is far more exciting than Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso— if we’re being real.

White also has deep-rooted ties to the Fever. She played five seasons for Indiana in the early 2000s and led the organization to the WNBA championship game during her previous two years as head coach in 2015 and 2016. Team president of basketball and business operations Kelly Krauskopf hired White almost a decade ago. It seems like that exact same thing is about to happen again very soon.

Barring an unexpected turn at the last-possible minute, Stephanie White is going to be the next head coach of the Indiana Fever. Caitlin Clark is on board with that move.

Although the greatest scorer in college basketball history has not commented about her team’s coaching search, she is very familiar with the leading candidate. They often crossed paths during her career at Iowa when White was on the call for Clark’s games.

The latter offered high praise for the former back in May. Her first regular season game as a professional just so happened to be against the Sun. Clark is a big fan.

She’s obviously called a lot of my games all throughout college. I just think she has a really great basketball mind, I think she’s done a great job of calling college games. It’s been great seeing her on NBA games. I think what she’s done is just — she’s obviously been a trailblazer, honestly. I think she’s always been somebody that’s been supportive of my game. It’s been fun to talk to her at shootarounds throughout my college career and (I’ve) always been really supported. –  Caitlin Clark
