Whoopi Goldberg doubles down on ‘bulls–t’ Staten Island bakery slam

She’s trying to have her cake and eat it, too.

Comedian Whoopi Goldberg is still playing the victim at the expense of a New York bakery she claims refused to prepare her birthday desserts over her left-wing political views.

Holtermann’s Bakery — a Staten Island institution in business since the tail end of Reconstruction — was thrust into the national spotlight after Goldberg claimed she wasn’t served due to her “politics” last week.

Whoopi Goldberg on webcam Whoopi Goldberg isn’t backing down on her widely panned accusations against a local bakery.

“There seems to be a lot of talk about the dessert I requested for my birthday show,” the actress and “The View” co-host said on her Instagram this weekend in an apparent acknowledgement of the blitz of negative press her allegation unleashed.

She reiterated the technicality that she “never mentioned the name of the bakery or the location” — despite its name being revealed in the press within hours as a direct result of her tirade — before retreading the same evidence-free complaint.

“It does seem a little odd that when we called a few weeks before my birthday and we were told they couldn’t process the order because of an equipment failure,” she said, apparently still doubting the 145-year-old bakery’s explanation.

“But somehow they were able to accept an order of a different 48 of the same dessert when somebody else called without using my name.”

The bakery has maintained they were experiencing mechanical issues with their 60-year-old boiler when the request was made on Goldberg’s behalf, and that they didn’t want to promise something they couldn’t deliver.

Jill Holtermann behind the counter at Holtermann's bakery.Jill Holtermann, owner of Holtermann’s Bakery on Staten Island, has denied the “The View” co-host’s claims, insisting their 60-year-old boiler was out of commission when she placed her birthday order.
She concluded her Instagram post by putting everyone’s mind at ease that she still managed to enjoy her birthday, even in spite of the firestorm she caused.

“But it’s ok y’all, because I enjoyed my delicious dessert, and I had a happy, sweet birthday. Nothing better than that.”

Goldberg made the allegations live on “The View” during an episode celebrating her 69th birthday, drawing swift condemnation from customers and Staten Island pols — including borough president, Vito Fossella, who said the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony-winner “defamed” the establishment and that she should apologize.

Holtermann's bakery exterior. The 145-year-old bakery has seen an uptick of business since Goldberg accused them of discriminating against her because of her political beliefs.

“We’re here to stand up for one of the best families and businesses, not just in Staten Island but in the country,” he said at a news conference outside the bakery.

“Frankly, the people who defamed the Holtermann family should apologize … for making stuff up to suit their needs. Not everybody wakes up every day and thinks about politics,” he added.

Local resident Deborah Bernaz called the claim “bulls–t.”

“I think it’s ridiculous. Why would she come all the way to Staten Island for her cupcake? To make an issue? They’ve been here forever,” Bernaz, 68, told The Post.

“I don’t think it has anything to do with politics. They’re a little Staten Island bakery. I think it’s bulls–t what she’s saying. Leave politics out of the bakery.”

Goldberg’s reps didn’t respond to repeated requests for comment by The Post.
