A fortunate young father struck gold, unearthing two massive nuggets valued at nearly $200,000. Discovered on private property in Tarnagulla, near Bendigo, north of Melbourne, these natural treasures boast a combined weight of almost 140 ounces. The lucky prospector, who opted to remain anonymous for security reasons, received accolades from Ray Swinnerton, the vice-president of the Bendigo Prospecting Club, expressing his delight at the extraordinary find. The remarkable discovery unfolded on the grounds of the Bendigo Prospecting Club, capturing the attention of enthusiasts and adding to the allure of the region’s prospecting history.

Ray Swinnerton, vice-president of The Bendigo Prospecting Club, expressed the young father’s delight with his discovery. He was thrilled when he found it, as you can imagine. “He didn’t want to be named until he sold them. It was very unusual,” added Swinnerton, emphasizing that gold mining is more of a hobby for most people. “Most of us don’t do this for money. The detector alone costs about $7,000. Selling the gold can also be difficult because a license is needed to sell it to foreign buyers. I think he has sold one of the nuggets and is preparing to sell the other.
